POTF #7
I Already Know
From the highway in Canada I saw a freakin’ huge owl
I flew by, it sat, staring out from it’s tree
What the hell was that about?
You never see owls anymore
Well, I guess I never did anyway
But I knew someone who knew someone who “knew” owls
Are the owls around and OK generally?
I almost never think about them
until David Lynch makes me do
The closest I’ve ever been to an owl pellet
Is when Green Gargantua eats up the night club singer
and makes one of her spangled gown
What is up with owls? What is this telling me?
Is this some totemic message?
Should I be worried about the owls as well now?

naw...look up ecotone. it's what happens when you turn the planet into a fuckin wal-mart.
i always feel lucky when i see them. they're perdy!
i figger if they were bad luck most people would croak after going to the raptor exhibit at the woodland park zoo.
the only worry you need to have is that they're
being squeezed out of their environment. i see them once in awhile out here and i live in town. but then in the last 36 hours or so i've seen 5 coyotes, about 50 head of elk, a cupple of deer, and a mess of songbirds....and some bear poo, i think.
oh wait, i just re-read your post. where in canady?
i love canady!
I submitted this one to the poetry club project of poems for going under the "green" campaign pictures they are to be putting up at school.
It hadn't occurred to me that it could be taken a different way than I intended so that's good for me to look at.
I love that owl, s/he was HUGE. I hope I never forget him/her. Do you suppose it's possible that it was a Great Horned?
We was drivin' through on the way back from Niagara. I love Canada as well although I was frightened to see a big "fundie" billboard when we first got in... I thought they were smarter than that.
